The Fellowship for American Statecraft isn’t just another Washington internship. It’s your launchpad to a career in mere months.

The first step into politics shouldn’t depend on family connections, elite credentials, or the ability to work for free. That’s why we created the highest-paid fellowship in D.C.

The hardest part of any career in public policy is getting started. The traditional path demands unpaid internships, Ivy League degrees, and knowing the right people. We reject that broken system entirely. The Fellowship for American Statecraft provides:

  • $3,250 per month for three months (spring, summer, or fall)
  • $250 signing bonus plus 401(k) matching and gym benefits
  • $100 monthly networking credit for coffees and lunches
  • No college degree required — we select for character and capability, not elite-conferred “credentials”
  • Placement with top White House and Executive Branch agencies or Capitol Hill offices
  • Weekly Friday seminars with policy leaders and mentors
  • A nationwide network of like-minded peers committed to principled governance
 

Frontiers: Innovation offers mid-to-senior level staffers and emerging policy experts in Washington the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and forge connections with mentors working to shape the future of American technology, science, and national competitiveness.

Issue areas covered during the program include AI, defense technology, biomedical innovation, scientific research, talent and personnel policy, digital assets, regulatory modernization, U.S.-China competition, and more.

Frontiers: Foreign Policy offers mid-to-senior level staffers and emerging policy experts in Washington the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and forge connections with mentors working to implement a restraint-oriented grand strategy that puts American interests first.

What Fellows Experience

Every week, Fellows work alongside senior staff in some of the most consequential offices in Washington. On Fridays, they gather with American Moment staff, allied organizations, and public policy leaders for intensive seminars designed to supplement their on-the-job education.

These sessions cover the foundations of American statecraft across our core priorities: strong families, national sovereignty, and prosperity for all. But more than policy knowledge, Fellows gain access to an invaluable community of peers who share their values and mentors with firsthand experience.

When is the program?
The Spring 2027 Fellowship will take place January 13-April 2, with a retreat from January 13-16.

What are my options for housing? 
Fellows are primarily responsible for finding their own housing. However, in some cases, American Moment may be able to find reduced-cost housing options depending on availability. Reach out to [email protected] to discuss options or concerns.

What can I expect?
For 12 weeks, Fellows are placed in the executive branch or in congressional offices where they intern four days a week. Every Friday, Fellows will spend the full day in American Moment’s Capitol Hill office to receive lectures from leading public policy experts, public officials, strategists, and practitioners.

Does American Moment accept rolling applications for future Fellowship seasons?
No. We no longer accept Fellowship applications on a rolling basis.

Am I eligible if I am still in school, planning to attend graduate school, or not ready to work in DC soon?
No. This Fellowship is intended for those ready to begin a professional career immediately after the program concludes. If you have several years of school left, plan to attend graduate school, or do not plan to work in DC soon, but want to get involved, please reach out here instead: americanmoment.org/join.

I would like to work in journalism or media. Is this program right for me?
No. Other organizations are better suited to this career path, but we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
