Dan Caldwell Joins American Moment as Senior Fellow for Foreign Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 15, 2025 — American Moment today announced the hire of Dan Caldwell as Senior Fellow for Foreign Policy.

Dan is the former Senior Advisor to the Secretary of War. Prior to joining the Department of War, he served as a member of the Trump-Vance Presidential Transition, focused on identifying personnel who could fill key national security roles within the second Trump administration.

“I am proud to have supported and collaborated with American Moment since their founding in 2021. It is an immense honor to formally join their team to support their efforts to equip the next generation of conservative talent to advance a better American foreign policy,” said Dan Caldwell.

Dan has spent over a decade developing and advocating for policies designed to fix veterans’ health care, reduce the national debt, and improve American foreign policy. On Monday, Dan joined American Moment CEO Nick Solheim on Moment of Truth, American Moment’s flagship podcast, to discuss his new role at the organization and offer insight and commentary on the geopolitical landscape today.

“There is no single person who has done more to identify, educate, and credential the best and brightest foreign policy minds to serve in roles critical to national security than Dan Caldwell,” American Moment co-founder and CEO Nick Solheim said in a statement. “He has long been a friend, mentor, and informal partner in ensuring that American Moment produces thousands of young foreign policy minds to implement the America first foreign policy agenda.”

In his role, Dan will continue to defend American Moment’s priorities, craft the foundation for conservative foreign policy of the future, and mentor the hundreds of foreign policy staffers American Moment interacts with every year.

“Dan Caldwell’s unmatched expertise and steadfast commitment to realist foreign policy make him an invaluable addition to American Moment,” said Rachel Bovard, American Moment Board of Advisors member and Vice President of Programs at the Conservative Partnership Institute. “His strategic vision, shaped by years of service and leadership, will advance President Trump’s agenda and strengthen our nation’s security.”

Prior to his role at the Pentagon, Dan served as the Policy Director, Senior Advisor, and Executive Director of Concerned Veterans for America (CVA). Later, Dan became the Vice President of Foreign Policy at Stand Together, during which he oversaw that organization’s foreign policy strategy and nonprofit investment portfolio. While at Stand Together, Dan led Stand Together’s response to the war in Ukraine and was a leading voice against further escalation in that war. Dan also served as a Public Policy Advisor at Defense Priorities and a Vice President at the Center for Renewing for America.

Dan is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the Iraq War. Following boot camp and initial training, Dan was assigned to the Marine Corps Presidential Support Program, where he served as a member of the security force at the presidential retreat at Camp David. Following his service at Camp David, Dan deployed to Iraq with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and conducted operations in Al Anbar and Ninawa provinces.
